Guest Papers: Vacation Edition (Part 1)

As you've probably noticed, I haven't posted here in a little while.  Part of the reason is due to the compressed nature of my current college course and another is a lingering bout of bronchitis that I can't seem to shake.  One last cause for this absence has been the preparation for a summer vacation I've been planning since the spring.  My high school class is having a get-together this weekend and I have traveled by car back to Pennsylvania to attend.  It's been many years since I've seen many of these folks and I'm looking forward to meeting them and talking about the 'good old days'.

Even on vacation, I still think of journalism and the variety of outlets we have available to us in this country.  Because of my 'old school' ways, I picked up a few of those offerings along my route yesterday and wanted to highlight them here on the blog.  I traveled across the top of Pennsylvania so I was able to buy some of the lesser-known dailies (and one weekly) of those areas.  The order presented mimics the route I took for my drive from Dayton and are the papers of Akron (The Akron Beacon Journal), Cleveland (The Plain Dealer), Youngstown (The Vindicator), Punxsutawney (The Punxsutawney Spirit), Brookville (The Jeffersonian Democrat), Dubois (The Courier Express) and State College (The Centre Daily Times).

I will be posting more front pages from the places where I will be staying during this 10-day trip and from along the routes between those stops.  Just a hint of dramatic foreshadowing--New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, DC are on the itinerary!
